SUMMARY:Camp Nurture with Burn Foundation - Group Collage *private event*
DESCRIPTION:The Walter Hive joins the Arizona Burn Foundation at Camp Nurture which is a camp for young burn survivors and their families\, to provide art-focused projects. \nIn this workshop\, we lead participants in a group puzzle collage. The family members together choose a central image to put on their paper (handprints\, a heart\, something meaningful to them). Then the paper is cut into pieces so that each person has one or two. We provide a variety of art materials for individuals to decorate their own piece(s). In the final step\, the pieces are reassembled onto a canvas to re-form the initial outlined image\, but it is now a collage where everyone has contributed to the whole. This project emphasizes the importance of each person’s contribution to the family and connects them all.

DESCRIPTION:The Walter Hive joins the Arizona Burn Foundation at Camp Thrive to provide art-focused projects. \nCamp Thrive is a weekend for young adult burn survivors from Arizona. Participants come together for friendship and healing. We are leading a workshop of Fractured Art based on the Kintsugi process.  Participants create an image\, abstract or representational\, then cut or tear the paper and reconstruct it in a new way. This represents that we have all been broken at times in our lives\, but we can learn from experience and create something new.\n\nArizona Burn Foundation is a long time partner and we are honored to return for this event.

SUMMARY:Make a Ceramic Bowl (or Two) with Fresh Botanicals
DESCRIPTION:Join The Walter Hive in their maker-space for a ceramics workshop! Learn about the therapeutic benefits of working with clay and create a ceramic bowl made from fresh botanicals – such as a cabbage leaf. No experience is necessary and instruction and materials will be provided. This class is for ages 10 and up. \n*Note – in this workshop you will work with raw clay to create your piece and leave it at Walter Hive to be fired in our kiln.  A green glaze will then be applied by us and then fired again.  You will be able to pick up your artwork on or after March 12th. \nFor safety\, please bring closed toe shoes\, an wear clothes that you don’t mind getting dirty. \nClick Here for Tickets
