Memphis Rainbow Parlor Opening

What a lovely evening we had celebrating color at the Memphis Rainbow Parlour show on April 20.  Mark Freedman and Lisa von Hoffner were influenced by the Italian “Memphis Design Group” whose design and architecture were characterized by colorful decoration and asymmetrical shapes.  The word “rainbow” reflects their passion for color. “Parlour” refers to their curiosity for historical gatherings where people purposely shared their time indulging in feeding the senses. The artists were specifically inspired by the parlors and salons of Versailles and the visions of The Sun King.

The community came out with enthusiasm for the show.  We had a visit from the Phoenix Mayor, Greg Stanton, who made time for this special evening to visit with us.  If you haven't had an opportunity to see this Memphis Rainbow, you can join us on Friday, May 18 as we open the gallery from 6 - 9 pm.  You won't want to miss this!
